EXPLANATION OF REQUEST: In accordance with the Municipal Lien Procedure on file in the City of Boynton Beach, the attached list contains the addresses of properties cited by Code Compliance for nuisances abated by a City-contracted vendor. Finance sent an invoice to each property owner. There was no response within the required 30-day period. Copies of the invoices were then forwarded to the City Clerk’s Office for continuation of the procedure. The property owners were again issued a copy of the invoice and a letter which offered an opportunity to pay the invoice within an additional 30-day period. The attached list contains the names of the property owners who have still not responded to our correspondence.
At this point in the procedures, authorization is requested to record liens against these properties in the public records of Palm Beach County within 30 days of adoption of the Resolution. Prior to sending the Resolution to the County for recording, the City Clerk will send another letter to each property owner notifying them they have another 30 days to pay the invoice before the Resolution is sent for recording. An additional administrative fee of $30 will be added to the assessment when the Resolution is sent to the County for recording.
Thirty days after the Resolution is recorded, the property owners will receive, by certified mail, a copy of the Resolution and another letter stating the unpaid balance will accrue interest at a rate of 8% per annum.
